Sunnybank Hills State School Presentation

A presentation to the Year 6 cohort.

On the 4th of April, Theseus Robotics were privileged enough to be invited to give a presentation to the entire Year 6 cohort at Sunnybank Hills State School. More than 250 students attended, and we are extremely greatful to the school for allowing us to share our experiences with these impressionable young people!

Some of our team members are alumni of the school, so it was a great opportunity to give back to the institution that helped shape us into who we are today.

During the presentation, we were able to let the kids get up close and personal with the robot, answering any questions they had and providing advice on what they could do to get involved! We were also able to share our journey from being primary school students to becoming a competitive robotics team, and how we got into the FIRST Tech Challenge.

The kids were super excited to see the robot in action!

We split the cohort into class groups, and allowed them to come up one by one to interact with the robot.

A special shoutout to one little kid who specifically requested for the CAD of the robot to be shared with him, so he could “make one over the holidays”! How could we say no? We gave him the link to our online repository and gave him some pointers on how to get started.

We’re super excited to see what he comes up with and wish him the best of luck. We sincerely hope that this presentation has inspired some of theses young children to pursue a career in STEM, and we look forward to (hopefully!) seeing them at future FIRST events!
