Named after the mythical creature Theseus defeated in the Labyrinth, Minotaur was our first robot and was built for the 2024 Queensland Regional Qualifier, two months after the team existed at all.
Half the team was sitting Year 12 final exams during the build. Field shipping was delayed, so the first time Minotaur drove on a real field was a few hours before qualification matches began. We designed around that reality: simplicity and consistency over everything. Minotaur sported a double-jointed arm doing the work that later, more complex robots would spread across turrets and slides.
The strategy worked. Minotaur finished 1st ranked, captained the Winning Alliance, and took home the Inspire Award, a perfect start to a season that would end in Houston.
